The Riverdale Robotics team is now well into its fifth week of the build season and there is so much to do! Only given six weeks to create a functional robot, this year’s challenge is called “Rebound Rumble”, a basketball themed game that will be played on a 27x54 foot field at the Memorial Coliseum in March.

Last month, 250 students at Riverdale High experienced a planned lockdown drill during which something caused the fire alarm to sound. The cause for the fire alarm is still unknown, but it caused much confusion throughout the school.

BCS Needs to Go (Bowl Game Picks Included)

The sports world let out an “are you kidding me?” as the major Bowl Championship Series games were announced. Four undeserving teams were put into BCS games, two of which had to be there due to automatic qualifying. Somehow, the Michigan Wolverines (13) sneaked into the Sugar Bowl against yet another undeserving team, Virginia Tech (11). How could they have possibly crept in to this game ahead of Arkansas(6), Boise State(7), Kansas State(8), South Carolina(9) and Baylor(12)? College football fans were forced into the Orange Bowl between West Virginia(23) and Clemson(15).

The Riverdale parking lot is the last place one would expect a traffic problem, but the Collinsview Neighborhood Association thinks otherwise. Most area high schools start at 8:00am, but that would be in the middle of rush hour on Terwilliger Blvd. That is why the Neighborhood Association and Riverdale have agreed on a 9:00am start time, as not to cause too much inconvenience for the neighborhood.
