![]() The aim of reflexology is to restore health and a patient's attitude is of “paramount” importance to the effectiveness of the treatment. The body and mind can't be separated according to David E. Vennells, author of Reflexology for Beginners. A person's thoughts and feelings rely on subtle internal energies and because the mind and body are one the body relies on those energies too. Physical health is related to internal energies and so that health is affected by thoughts and emotions. Energy is the basis of all life and therefore is an important part of healing (Vennells 6). Debbie Inguagiato, a reflexologist from Portland, Oregon also says she sees a definite influence on the effectiveness of the treatment by the patient's attitude. When a person goes into a reflexology session with the perception that reflexology doesn't work the treatment's effectiveness is greatly diminished. |
