Meeting and Exceeding expectations on the senior exhibition
Exceeding expectations on the senior exhibition
The following guidelines are intended for students who wish to exceed expectations on the 2001-2002 senior exhibitions, and earn Distinction for this work.
In addition to meeting all paper and portfolio deadlines and requirements, students who wish to earn Distinction should:
· Create a product related to the senior exhibition that serves a greater purpose than an academic one.
· Challenge themselves to complete the most outstanding work they possibly can.
· Integrate all core subject areas into the exhibition.
· Create a tangible object related to the exhibition.
· Design and implement an “active citizenship” (community service or internship) element related to the exhibition.
· Create and deliver an outside presentation, product or production to an unfamiliar but relevant audience.
Over the summer, students who wish to earn distinction should:
· Write a paper discussing “what I know and what I wonder”.
· Write a list of essential questions and relevant research questions.
· Read a relevant book and take notes regarding its relation to the essential question.
· Find three possible experts.
It is also recommend that the following tasks be completed during the summer:
· Plan and begin an “active citizenship” component.
· Interview possible experts to gain information and direction regarding the focus of your research.
· Discuss your mid-summer progress with Mr. Thompson (dthompso@riverdale.k12.or.us) or Mr. Oldani (moldani@riverdale.k12.or.us) via e-mail between July 20th and August 10th.
