In 1996-1997, Sauvie Island and Riverdale High Schools had a collaborative shared-facility agreement, which means that we were in the same building (actually, it was a floor we leased from the Northwest College of Naturopathic Medicine) and we shared our upperclass and elective classes. Our class consisted of five students and one teacher. Kathryn, Matej and Caleb are from Sauvie Island, Ryan and Curtis are from Riverdale. Kathryn, Curtis and Ryan were freshmen, Caleb was a sophmore, and Matej was a senior and was an exchange student from Slovakia. In this class we have did many things and went to many places. Our class saw a performance at Pacific University in Forest Grove based on the World War II resistance group the White Rose. We also went to a discussion of the Dutch transit camp Westerbork, which was accompanied by a documentary film that was created by Jews in the camp. We saw other movies like "Engelchen" and "Koyla" at the Portland International Film Festival, the Director's Cut of "Das Boot" and the 1948 film "Long is the Road". As a class we sampled German food at The Berlin Inn and at Widmer Gasthaus.
