Girl scout smoking

This is a picture of Michelle Phillips playing a girl scout. It makes a statement about an organization within our society. That statment within the context of the time it was made was extremely radical. This is a sign of a cultural shift.
What factors within our society, particularly the arts lead so social change? How can somebody create a social change, and why should they?

These are important questions that are well worth asking, and without there being answered nobody can really take accountability for creating social change, and nobody can really expect to have an influence on society. The purpose of this study is not only to state the importance of an idea in creating social change, but also to explore the application of that idea and draw a conclusion as to what leads to the success of an idea and what leads to failure.
