Millennials
("Millennials")

In the early 1980’s a generation eventually expected to exceed 100 million members (Howe 74) was first introduced to the world (Howe 4). Whether they are known as “The Millennials”, “Generation Y”, or even as “Echo Boom”, the current dispute regarding the generation poses a popular and engaging controversy among the media, experts, older generations, and Millennials themselves. As a group the generation is defined by some as “ultimate failures”, but by others as “the greatest generation rising.” Their success in upcoming years will determine their lives, as well as the future of the United States of America.
Having been born in 1987 I am a member of the Millennial generation myself, and I find the controversy intriguing because the future that I am investigating is my own. I choose to research about the Millennials because I am fascinated with the interactions of the Millennials and older generations and I wanted to investigate the relationships and opinions that will be part of their future.
